Eleanor Roosevelt was in the D.A.R. They wouldn’t let Marian Anderson sing for them. Marian was an opera singer. She sang My Country Tis of Thee. They wouldn’t let her sing because she was black. Eleanor had her sing in front of the Lincoln Memorial. In that time people were raisest. They didn’t like black people. Marian was born in Philadelphia Pa. In 1943 she sang for the D.A.R. at constitution hall for the American Red Cross. July 7, 1943 she got married to Orpheus H. Fisher. Marian retired singing in 1965.

Marian was black and she was asked to sing for the Daughters of the American Revolution, but when they didn’t let her because she was black. Eleanor Roosevelt felt sad because they didn’t let Marian sing. Eleanor quit the Daughters of the American Revolution and set up a concert in front of the Lincoln Memorial where Marian could sing. This was a big a deal because black and white people did not get along. Eleanor tried to get people to believe that all people are the same.
Eleanor Roosevelt wanted Marion Anderson to sing an opera song in front of the Lincoln Memorial. The D.A.R did not want her to sing, and then Eleanor said that she wanted her to sing. Because people were racist and she was the first black woman to sing an opera song in front of the Lincoln Memorial. Marion Anderson was born in Philadelphia Pennsylvania. She was six when she joined the junior church choir. In 1928 she sang for the first time in Cambridge Hall. By 1956 she had preformed over one thousand times.

Marion Anderson was born on February 27, 1897. On the date of April 8, 1993 was an American Contralto. She was born in Philadelphia, PA. She joined the Junior Choirs, when she was six years old. She also turned away because of the color of her skin. In the year 1943, Anderson was singing a song at the invitation of the DAR.

Eleanor set up a concert at the Lincoln Memorial. She sang My Country Tis of Thee. This was such a big deal because a lot of people had hatred against people who were not like them.

ReplyDeleteMarion was a black famous opera singer. The Dar refused her ermission to sing in Constitution Hall. The first lady, Elonore Roosevelt helped Marion she put on a concert in front of Abraham Lincoln the Statue. My country tiss of thee.

Marion was born in Phila, PA.. She later sang at the Constitution hall for the Red Cross. In 1993 Marion died of a Heart Failure.
